The leafs of Strobilanthes crispus is traditionally used to treat cancer, diabetes and as a diuretic agent. Iin recent years strobilanthes has been in the limelight for its anti-cancer properties.  This plant has a high calcium carbonate and recent Japanese research reveals that it has compound and molecules that is capable of slowing down the growth of retrovirus like HIV that causes AIDS. Locals have been reported to use the herb for the treatment of uterine fibroids and leukaemia.
